WATERLOO — The federal environment minister used a climate-change conference in Waterloo Friday to announce Canada will contribute $400 million to fight climate change globally. Speaking in front of a packed audience at the Centre for International Governance Innovation, Jim Prentice’s address focused on Canada’s role in global climate change policy. “We cannot make progress without the kind of deliberations you will be having here,” the minister said. The centre hosts an annual climate change conference in Waterloo with three days of speeches and round-table discussions to explore a global climate deal. It is hoped the conference influences the United Nations climate change conference in Mexico at the end of the year. Prentice said the $400-million funding commitment is Canada’s largest ever contribution to international efforts to deal with climate change. کلمات کلیدی:
